We have a special program for select adult dachshunds where they live the majority of their time with their own special family as a cherished pet, only spending time here with us when they are actively breeding or competing in conformation shows.  It is a win-win program for everyone involved!  

We will also occasionally place show prospect puppies in a “Couch Family” home to grow and mature.  These dachshunds then have the opportunity to grow up in a home with their own special life-long family.  If they mature to their full potential as beautiful show-quality dachshunds, they can then spend occasional weekends with us competing in AKC conformation events towards their championship titles and be part of our breeding program here…all while enjoying the life as cherished pet of their “couch family”.  

Couch families:
*  Live within reasonable driving distance
*  Have at least one family member home most of the time during the day*  Care for and love their dachshund as a member of their family
*  Will be the life-long home for their dachshund
*  Share in the excitement and joy of competing (and hopefully some WINS!) in the conformation show ring
*  Can choose to compete with their dachshund in other AKC events such as agility, earthdog, field trials, and others
*  Socialize and train their dachshund to be outgoing around people and love walks on the leash
*  Have no other intact dogs in their home
*  Are open to their pet spending some occasional weekends with us at conformation shows…and are welcome to travel to shows to watch!
*  Are supportive of our breeding goals and their dachshund’s role in producing the next generation
*  Agree that upon retirement from show and/or breeding their dachshund will be spayed/neutered and remain in their family
